Summer Time & Dental Appointments
Ah, summer. It’s time for barbecues, fireworks, baseball games and…dental appointments. You might not always think to include that last one, but in truth, summer is the best time to bring your kids to the dentist. Regular cleanings and check-ups are absolutely vital to keeping your kids’ teeth healthy now and for the rest of their lifetime, and over the summer you can get it done without one major obstacle–school.
During the school year, your child is probably occupied at least six hours per day, five days a week (longer if there is drive time or day care involved). It just so happens that those occupied times constitute a large portion of the time a dentist office is actually open. Maybe your Charlotte dental office has late hours or Saturday hours, but guess what? Now every parent who goes to that practice is fighting for those same evening and weekend hours. You do, of course, have the option to take your child out of school to go to the dentist, but then you run the risk of missing important lessons or tests that could hurt them academically, not to mention having to go through the hassle of actually getting your child in and out of school (not easy in this day and age).
In the summer, even if you have summer activities or summer school going on, the time commitment is not nearly as severe as during the school year, and other parents spread out their appointments throughout the day so that there isn’t so much competition for “Prime hours” at your favorite Charlotte dental office, like Dentistry on Carmel. If, by chance, a check-up reveals a potential problem, it is much easier to schedule a timely follow-up appointment to take care of it, too. The dental visit might not be the most fun thing you do with your kids this summer, but it will definitely be an efficient use of your time.
